Deviant Art

I've had a DeviantArt account since 2009, but haven't done much with it until recently. I didn't really take DA that seriously, thinking of it as mostly for anime and furry art, which I don't do. But lately I've been using it more as it has a lot of stock photography and some of it is useful in a pinch. Also you can find PhotoShop brushes and vector shapes and a variety of other handy art references. In addition it provides interesting data when you post art; you can see who has favorited the art and what else they've favorited to give you some insight into who likes what you're posting.

It has become a place where I post experiments and see the results and interact with the community. Some experiments include these mixed-media drawings I've been doing for fun with pen & inks coloring them with watercolors, colored pencil, and finishing them digitally. Here are some examples.

Trail to the Secret Waterfall

There is a trail we occasionally hike that leads to a hidden waterfall deep in the woods. The trail is strewn with huge boulders. The waterfall is a bit further down, it is a massive moss covered rock that water trickles down, or pours down during rainy season. The trail is mostly shaded with dappled lighting.

Swamp Dragons

I've been drawing some digital pen & inks lately. You can really build up layers of detail and quickly lay down dark and light strokes. In some ways it is a little like working in scratchboard. With the awesome power of control+z.

Morgan Le Fey with a collection of knight's heads

A work in progress sketch of a witch I did it a while back, just touched up a few things.
